
The Government is to provide more financial support to the cash strapped national airline Air Jamaica.
The Financial Report understands<span style="font-weight: bold"> that Parliament will on Tuesday afternoon be asked to approve another loan guarantee for the airline.</span>
<span style="font-weight: bold">A senior Government official was last tight-lipped on how much money is being guaranteed </span>for <span style="font-style: italic">the airline <span style="font-weight: bold">which is in the process of being privatised</span>.</span>
Air Jamaica, which racked up more than US$100 million in losses last year, is one of several state-owned entities, which the Bruce Golding led administration is attempting to divest this fiscal year.
The Government had projected to privatise the airline by the end of March but failed to meet that deadline.
It is now targeting to complete the sale by July.
